Hello and welcome to our Year 6 class page. Our class is 6D and we are taught by Mrs Dalby and our fabulous teaching assistant Mrs Willows, who help us with our learning.
Along with the other year 6 class 6B taught by Miss Barton ad Mrs Whetton, we are based in the mobile classroom on the KS2 playground, where we develop our love for learning and get ready to eventually move on to secondary school.
Every year, come the second week in May, our Y6 children take the National Tests in spelling, grammar, reading, writing and maths, which celebrates the immense effort they put in to their KS2 learning journey. With this in mind, our focus in Y6 is preparing for the tests during our core subjects, but emphasising an element of fun in selecting ways of learning and approaching the tests.
We have a great topic this term: 'Tomorrow's World' - where we have been learning about robots and what role they have in everyday life. This half term, we are researching the history of mobile phones; it's been an eye opener for some as to just how big the original mobile phones were 'back in the day'.
On a Friday, we have a Progressive Sports Coach who teaches a wide range of team games. This is always a favourite, especially to unwind at the end of a busy week. We are brilliant role models for the rest of the school and make sure we set an example to the younger children!
